I, Doula

Birth and Postpartum Services and Support

I have a background in the paramedical field and have training in various relaxation techniques including massage, breath work and dance.  I look forward to being able to help partner you through this wonderous time. Whether you are interested in a birthing class, or would like to work with me as your Doula, I’ll provide the emotional, educational and physical support you need not only during labor, but throughout your pregnancy and postpartum as well.

I am also a doula with the Doulas For Aboriginal Families grant program.  My people are Kwakiutl of the Kwakwa̱ka̱'wakw First Nations specifically from Alert Bay.  I seek to provide as traditional a birth journey as is desired by my clients.  See my services page for details.

While I do not subscribe to any one specific religion, I AM a child of the Earth, a daughter of all who came before me and a strong believer in the power of Faith.  I believe in the Divine Feminine as well as the Divine Masculine, the need for balance in everything we do, and I believe in living gently with awareness and intention.

Whether you want an at-home, hospital, water, lotus birth or anything in between....I am here to support you.

About Me

How I Got Here

I am the mother of 2 grown boys.  My first son was born after 49 hours of labour, with much intervention along the way, presenting with double pneumonia and with my almost bleeding to death from the trauma.  We were in the hospital for a week and a half.  My second son was born in 7 hours with no drugs(no time) and we left the following morning.  Both births were in the hospital.  Had I known the options that were available to me 20yrs ago, I would have done things differently....not the least of which would be having a midwife and doula with me while I laboured at home in a pool.  That was MY birth journey and my boys and I took it together like troopers.
In 2018, I had the pleasure of being the support person for a girlfriend of mine while she had a home birth.  It was the most amazing 18 hours of my life!  She had her daughter in a pool in her livingroom in peace with loved ones around.  It was life changing.  THAT is what I want to do, I decided, I want to help women navigate the waters of their pregnancy and labour to the best of their ability.  I want to empower and encourage women, to help them find the strength they need to do this most wonderous of things.

Home: About Me

Natasha was a very energetic easy to talk to person, she was super helpful and answered all of my questions. She's great for people who are anti-social or overall quiet kept to self people.
We had her for a few overnight postpartum and I totally recommend it to momma's that need their sleep she's great with babies.

We have a secret in our culture and it's not that birth is painful.  It's that women are strong.

Birth is not only about making babies.  Birth is about making mothers - strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.

Birth isn't something we suffer, but something we actively do and exult in.

A true birth warrior enters the unknown ready to face whatever unfolds, knowing she cannot control the outcome.  "Birth Warrior" refers to intention, action, and self-love...not the achievement of a specific thing.
